I Hate Mould Lines
Plastic models from Games Workshop have improved immensely over the last couple of decades however one thing continues to annoy. Mould lines! They will be the reason I quit the hobby altogether, I’m sure of it. How do you feel about mould lines?
Cleaning mould lines takes up too much time and the sooner they work out a way to get rid of them altogether the better off we’ll all be. The first week of this project has been nothing but cleaning models so far. When it’s time to finally lay some paint on these minis the month will nearly be over. Luckily I use a quick and easy colour scheme for Tyranids.
Keeping up with what is current in GW games is always hard. It seems the Tyranid Codex I have from a couple of years ago is still the current version but most of my models are from early 2000. This army will not be a tournament force so I’m not too worried about what weapons and upgrades a model has. For now, these will be built purely on look. I have had to go back and consult the Codex on a couple of things though when looking at what came on the sprues.
What arms should I use?
What arms can Genestealers have these days for example. There are some Genestealers built with scything talons in the pile. Some have rending claws. What is even legal these days? From what I can tell you can still use both but I’m going with rending claws on these new guys. They should have the traditional stealer look. Now back to scraping more plastic.
What do you use to clean mould lines? A mould line removal tool? A hobby knife? Do you just leave the mould lines on to save time? Or, do you have some secret mould line removal technique you should share with the world?
