Paint A Primaris Results

Paint a Primaris Results
Warhammer 40000

Over the last couple of weeks, we have all been enjoying the hype of the new 40k Indomitus release. Part of that was our own little challenge to paint a Primaris. All the guys set about painting a Primaris in a new chapter. It turns out some decided a classic chapter suited them better than coming up with a new chapter though. So let’s have a look at the paint a Primaris results.

Sparky set the challenge to paint a Primaris. He then added in the extra challenge that it had to be a new chapter. It turns out that was mainly because he wanted to do a new chapter for this edition of 40k. As for the other guys, they were more interested in doing an existing chapter. In the end, there was a mix of both.

A Challenge For Everyone

We also threw this challenge out, to anyone else who was interested, on Instagram with #New40kChapter and had some great images of new and existing chapters come through. Starting with those there was a clear front runner based purely on likes.

Turbidious on Instagram painted Captain Edric of the Astral Lions chapter. His account has more great images of his chapter so it’s well worth checking out.

Some of the other entries from around the globe were just as fantastic. We even posted a few for those that didn’t have Instagram accounts. This is the new Astral Mariners chapter by Russell.

A really great scheme. We don’t know if it was intentional or not but the way Russell blended from a grey up to white really reminds us of the whitewash of an ocean wave. Very fitting for his chapter name.

Meanwhile, Nathan went for the classic Salamanders chapter for his Primaris.

There were a few others tagged and some still coming in so if you haven’t checked out #New40kChapter yet, or added your own to it, jump on Instagram.

40k Heresy Primaris

Sparky actually created a new chapter, the Knights of Tephra. He spent most of the two weeks deciding on a colour scheme and creating a chapter symbol. Sparky is actually planning to do a full Primaris chapter and went for a quick method to paint them. He tells us he will be putting up more photos and background on the Knights of Tephra over the next few months as he works on a full company.

Fury opted for a classic chapter over a new one. Drawn to the Dark Angels he wanted to be able to paint a lot of marines quickly. So for his Marine, he went for an undercoat, dry brush and ink technique. Fury undercoated black. Did a three-stage dry brush. Then glazed with Coelia Greenshade. He was able to knock over this guy in 30 minutes!

Fairy also went back to a classic chapter painting a Blood Angels Primaris Marine. After doing a great job on the miniature Fairy lost momentum at the end. He put an old transfer on by mistake and accidentally applied crackle medium instead of decal medium to try and fix it. It provided a great laugh for the other guys but really knocked the momentum from Fairy’s painting.

It’s funny how a little mistake can really turn you off a model sometimes. In the end, Fairy pushed through and fixed it up to produce a pretty spectacular Blood Angels Primaris.

So Who Beat Fairy?

So how did we work out the paint a Primaris results? We decided that the winner would be the one that got the most likes on Instagram after a couple of days. Turbidius got the most likes out of everyone so he beat Fairy (and the rest of us). Congratulations Turbidious!

We needed to know if one of us beat Fairy too though. Bragging rights were on the line here! It was a close call in the end with Sparky taking the honours with just a few more likes than the Fairy and Fury.

For the rest of July, the guys will no doubt be busy reading the new rules and enjoying their Indomitus boxes. We will be back later this week to see if any other painting got done in July.
