Time For An Update

The Guys

Well June flew by with not a lot of posts on here and not a lot of painting getting done. So we thought it was time for an update. Let’s find out how everyone fared in June and start off the July challenge.

If you have only been following us here on the website it probably appears that not much at all happened in June. If you have been following over on Instagram as well though you have seen there is a lot still happening.

The challenge for June was Necromunda based with everyone attempting to get a gang painted. In addition to that Sparky and James had each set themselves some additional challenges. Let’s find out what everyone got up to in June and hear their excuses.

Fury

Fury actually achieved the most despite not putting any paint on his Cawdor gang. At the start of the month, the Cawdor gang was about ninety percent complete. At the end of June, they are still ninety percent complete.

Although the Cawdor fell by the wayside in June Fury actually got a lot of hobby in during the month. First of all, he smashed out two more units for his Beasts of Chaos force.

Then he decided he wanted a to add a chariot but could only find some of the parts in his extensive pile of bitz. So he set about scratch building what was missing.

With an even bigger army now and tournaments starting back up again Fury decided it was time to get back into the tournament scene. So he got in a couple of practice games and then hit the tables with his Beasts of Chaos at a local tournament. Taking second place in his first Age of Sigmar event. Despite coming up against 3 bloodthirsters in one army!

Not Just Age of Sigmar

Not stopping at Age of Sigmar Fury also managed to squeeze in some Warhammer 40,000. He dug up an old Rhino shell and converted it into a Whirlwind for his old school Space Wolves.

As if that wasn’t already a packed month Fury also managed to get in a final game of 40k, as a send-off to 8th edition, taking his old school Marines up against a legion of traitors. So Fury definitely takes the award for most hobby achieved this month.

“That dready is tiny compared to Magnus”
FAIRY

Fairy

For the month of June Fairy set his goal as a Delaque gang. He actually started the month really strong and looked like he was easily on track to complete them. With his airbrush in action, he had the base coats laid down and a lot of detail already done by the midpoint check-in.

Once the opportunity to play games again was available Fairy jumped at the chance to take his Titan Legion for a spin. He managed to get in a couple of games of Adeptus Titanicus during June and is keen for more in July.

Although Fairy managed to get a good portion of the gang painted in the remaining weeks of June he didn’t complete them.

Unfortunately, he got a little sidetracked near the end, on a holiday without paints. He tells us he did start gluing together his next project though.

So the Delaque gang sits about half-finished. July should see Fairy catch up and finish these guys. Although we do have the next painting challenge about to start and a new 40k release inbound which we hear has Fairy beginning a new army.

Sparky

Sparky started the month with grand plans to do a Palanite gang and the new Aeronautica Imperialis box. Then throughout the month he fell down a spiral of indecision and jumped between all manner of projects without actually finishing anything. Looking at what Sparky did in June is like taking a wander through his crazy brain.

To start June off Sparky built the Palanite gang and sprayed them grey as he was planning to test a colour scheme he wanted to use on Marines. That’s as far as the Palanite gang got all month. Then Sparky moved onto the terrain in the Necromunda Dark Uprising box. As he built the terrain he also began 3D printing some of his own including base plates for an Underhive themed table.

Still unsure what to do with his colour scheme for the Palatine gang Sparky started on his Aeronautica Orks. Out of all the things he started this month these guys probably got the furthest. They still aren’t finished though!

More Tiny Planes

As Sparky was painting the Orks the new Aeronautica box came out and he dropped the Orks for shiny new Tau planes. The Tau got base coated and were well underway when Sparky changed his mind on the colours. He then undercoated and based the second batch a different way. Rumour has it he has changed his mind again and is thinking about redoing them in another colour. The Tau did not get completed in June either!

While 3D printing Sparky was also somehow drawn to the Necrons and began printing some Necron terrain. While the terrain was printing he decided it would be a great time to start painting up his Necrons finally. He got as far as putting together two squads and undercoating one.

So Sparky was all over the place in June, starting several side projects, but like the rest of the team not completing the goal for the month. No one finished a Necromunda gang.

But what About July

For July the guys have committed to a few things for the month which we will cover later but with the release of the new 40k happening, they are also starting another painting challenge. One they hope to get others involved in too. Keep an eye out here and on the Instagram account for details.
