May – The Emperor Guide Us
May begins and we are still here, in isolation, ready for the second month and another challenge. This month it seems like some are taking the easy road when it comes to commitment though. All three guys have planned another month of hobby so let’s find out what everyone is committing to for May.
The goal of every month is to paint a force from the piles of shame sitting in our hobby hoards. This month though, the man who completed the mission in April seems to be giving everyone else a chance to take the spotlight.
Fury
Fury has been so overjoyed with his Beasts of Chaos that he wants an amazing display board for them. He has committed this month to paint the display board he began in April.
As a display board is not technically a force the piling on of shame from Sparky and Fairy has already begun. Fury claims this will be a display board of superior workmanship. Something worthy of a month’s work. With the main goal of this blog being hobby inspiration we decided to let him off on the force part and see what he churns out with this display board. It won’t stop us reminding him all month long that it’s not really a force though. It shouldn’t stop you from reminding him in the comments and on social media either. #ItsNotaForceFury
Fairy
Fairy already had a hobby plan for the year before starting this challenge. He doesn’t want to stray too much from that plan as it has been going so well for him. So this month he will be looking at finishing the pair of Warhounds he began in April plus another Reaver Titan.
This will complete his Legio (until GW releases more Titans). He is also contemplating grabbing some Forgeworld weapons down the track. That will depend on when they re-open though. Being fully invested in the Adeptus Titanicus system now he has also been working a table. Fairy is 3D printing a complete Adeptus Titanicus tables worth of terrain, with the assistance of a fellow club member. So for May, he is also following Fury down the terrain path. Fairy’s goal for May is not only to complete his Legio, but he also hopes to clean, assemble, and paint his Adeptus Titanicus terrain. (Might need to start #ItsNotaForceFairy as well – Sparky).
Sparky
The goal for this month is to recoup some pride and put the other two to shame. This is about completing a force a month. Pffft! Terrain! What are they thinking? With the Tyranids at an acceptable size for small games at home, it is time for something around 1000 points minimum.
The goal for May is to paint 1000 points plus of Adeptus Custodes. There are a couple of reasons for choosing Custodes. First, I have the Codex already and know some of their background. Second, the colour choice is straight forward. I plan to stick with the appropriate gold colour. These are the Emperor’s chosen protectors. It is only right that they be gold in his name. Third, my pile of plastic contains two complete Emperor’s Talon boxed sets. Finally, and most obviously, each model is worth a lot of points. A lot more than a bloody Termagant! So putting together and painting 1000 points worth should be a breeze. If I can manage to complete them that will also leave me some time to finish off a few more Tyranids and round them out to about 1000 points as well.
