40k Reveal
All the talk this week has been about the big 40k reveal supposedly coming from Games Workshop this weekend. Here at 40k Heresy, we have our own reveal coming as well with the classic miniature paint off reveal just over a week away. Who’s miniature is that above? (You’ll have to wait until the end of the month to find out) With all the rumours though it did get us thinking. What is the reveal going to be on Saturday?
There are rumours swirling all over the internet this week about what might be coming on Saturday. Whether they are wish listing or actual rumours who knows. Some good ones that have seen the rounds include another Primarch. It’s hard to imagine GW would bring another one to 40k with so many already done for 30k Heresy by Forge World. You never know though. It would be cool to see Vulkan return. Or may a return of Dorn. Fury’s vote for what is coming is on a Primarch. Mainly because Fury would love to see a good Fulgrim join the fray. If another Primarch came to 40k who would you like to see?
Could It Be Massive?
Some of the common thoughts about what is coming in the reveal have been more Psychic Awakening models and books. Obviously Necrons and, most likely, Sisters are where the hints seem to be leading everyone. Sparky would not be disappointed if it was Necrons. That is one army in his pile of shame waiting to be painted this year.
Another rumour gaining momentum is 40k 9th edition. Could it really be another edition of Warhammer 40,000? That would be huge! As ex GW guys we do think it fits with the timeline as far as updates go. The announcement of the recent price rise coming during the pandemic would also fit alongside a system update. Back in the day, a price rise usually came around the time of a new edition. Although price rises are pretty much an annual occurrence these days so who knows. The background has been building through Psychic Awakening books towards another timeline type event. So a new edition could fit well there. Fairy’s vote for the reveal is a for a new edition of 40k. Would you like to see 9th edition revealed or do you think it is too soon for another edition?
One of the funniest suggestions we have heard was that GW would troll everyone with a plastic Thunderhawk reveal that would actually be an Aeronautica Imperialis model. That would definitely be cool and a good laugh. More Adeptus Titanicus would get some love from all the team here as well.
The hope for Sparky in this reveal is for a 40k Underworlds style game. This is purely wishful thinking on his part. If you have been following his Twitter you may have noticed he has even been trying to suggest it to Games Workshop. Suggesting it should be called Warhammer 40,000 Warpstorm and be all about 40k faction warbands trapped in the warp. Admittedly, it does sound interesting.
Sparky though claims there are a few indicators that something like this is in the works. He claims that the Underworlds Online video game coming out and no reveals of anything new for Warhammer Underworlds are an indication that Season 3 is the last Warhammer Underworlds. Most people respond with “Tell him he’s dreamin’!”. Everyone is allowed to dream though. What do you hope the big 40k reveal from Games Workshop will be?
