Golden Legion Dreadnought
Already a few days into the month and I have hit a roadblock. Dreadnoughts! Like I said last month, I tend to start most armies with a Dreadnought like model. Something about that big imposing figure in the army just draws me in. Last month in the challenge it took until the end of the month before I got to a Carnifex. This month it is straight to the golden legion Dreadnought.
I got the Dreadnought out and built it. Then I hit the roadblock. What weapons? This is a completely new army for me. So, not having played Adeptus Custodes before I’m reluctant to lock myself into a weapon. I currently have three Contemptor Dreadnoughts in my pile. Two from these Talons of the Emperor boxes and one from somewhere else. The plan for these Talons of the Emperor boxes was to actually use the dreadnoughts and Land Raiders in other armies. I never intended to paint them gold. Now those plans have changed. The problem is two of the Dreadnoughts were already built and the arms were glued on. One of each weapon. So after building this one I’m faced with a few decision. How many Dreadnoughts do I want to now paint gold for this army? What weapon combinations do I want?
Big Decisions
So that’s been the distracting roadblock. After a day of thinking about I still don’t know how many I’ll end up painting. Being so early in the month and determined to finish over 1000 points. I don’t want to commit to two large models just yet. So, for now, starting with one is the decision. In order to achieve some flexibility with the final force though the right arm weapons will be magnetised.
So as not to fall behind there has also been some gold spraying. The first five Custodian Guard with guardian spears have been based. They are now ready for a shade wash while the Contemptor Dreadnought gets his arms sorted by the tech priest. So far, well ahead of last month. Let’s hope for no more distractions.
