Reaver Titan

Adeptus Titanicus
Reaver Titan built

The Reaver titan has come along fast. It is clear that Fairy wants to knock this Reaver titan over so he can complete the Legio. After that, he should have time for the classic miniature and his Adeptus Titanicus terrain. At least if he can keep up this pace.

In the space of a few days, Fairy has managed to build, magnetise and start laying down paint on his final titan. No small task in amongst daily life. With this titan Fairy once again went for magnets on the arms and carapace weapons. This will allow his force to be extremely flexible from game to game. Fairy has even promised a quick guide on magnetising these mighty war machines, so stay tuned.

The Road To Success

As with all the other titans, this one also got some base coats laid down while some of the parts were on the sprue. This technique is a personal preference where opinions can vary greatly. Though for larger kits where pieces like armour plates are going to be placed on over the top of a lot of detail this technique can really help. You can see in the image below that Fairy uses this technique to paint the main body of the titan first while he is able to get to all the detail.

During that time he is able to paint the plates and various armour pieces on the sprues. Therefore giving him both a time advantage and easier access to all the parts that would normally be covered by the armour plate piece. There is however one small downside to this technique. You do need to be careful when you remove the part from the sprue. In order to not chip any paintwork already done you just need to take a little more care when clipping. The other slight downside is those parts will then need a small touch up where they have been clipped out of the sprue. If you can cope with those small downsides though leaving plates on the sprue for larger models can really help.

The End Is In Sight

As you can see most of the base coating is now complete. There is still a fair amount of work to go including those painstaking edge highlights. Plus general highlights all around, transfers, and modelling the base. For only a weekends work though Fairy is making great strides towards his hobby goal for this month. The end of the ten titan legion is definitely in sight.

Knowing that work hasn’t start on the classic terminator captain challenge yet it will be interesting to see whether fairy’s focus continues on titans or shifts in the coming days.
