Throwback Thursday – Best 3

Fury The Guys
Throwback Thursday best 3 Fury's predator

Last week for Throwback Thursday chat we asked the question “What is your best-painted model that is still in your collection?” Well, that turned into some tough reflection for everyone. It turns out it is harder to pick your single best model than we thought. This week for Throwback Thursday Best 3 it’s Fury’s turn to share.

So after all the back and forth last week we got to see Fairy’s #best3minis and this week it was going to be Sparky’s turn. Before Sparky could dig out his models for the pics though Fury fired off his #best3minis. As with Fairy’s choices last week it appears that the models leaving an impact have more than just solid painting to them.

Just like last week, these models may not have actually been the best painted but had memories attached. Everyone came to the agreement that each person could pick the best three from back in the day. With that task in mind here is Fury to share what his best three are.

Fury’s Best 3

My best three are my most sentimental minis. It’s hard to separate them into any order. I’ll start with my Empire general from the Old World. General Kurger of the Reikland. He started my love for the Empire. He also secured my first ever victory in a staff tournament in a rather heroic fashion. Facing off against an army of giants. Yes, multiple giants! He had three giants come at him and General Kurger killed two of the beasts. One on a glorious charge. The other, after he was picked up and thrown, he then charged back into combat and glorious victory to secure the win. Since then he has guided the men of the Reikland.

A Reaver Titan. This has been sitting in my collection for 20 odd years. Until Fairy brought Epic 40,000 back from the dead at our club. I always wanted to paint a Griffo Legion titan and here it is. The Reaver models have certainly changed over the past 20 years when you compare this to Fairy’s recent Reaver. It’s a very different model to that one but I just love how my Legio Gryphonicus classic Reaver titan turned out.

My final choice may actually be my most sentimental. The Space Wolf Predator from back in the Rogue Trader days. This Space Marine tank has been with me from the start. A gift from my late grandmother it has endured at least 4 paint jobs and been the bane of so many battlefields across my long journey with wargaming, that started way back in ’93. A model that is so good it deserves to be shown twice in this post!
